This US rock quartet from Jacksonville, Florida, enjoyed major commercial success on their national charts during the early years of the new millennium with their crafted take on the melodic hard rock sound perfected by their compatriots Creed at the start of the century. Formed in 2001 by Brent Smith (vocals), Jasin Todd (guitar), Brad Stewart (bass) and Barry Kerch (drums), Shinedown quickly built up a strong following around their home state of Florida, owing in no small part to their dynamic live shows. Their popularity attracted the attention of a number of major labels, with Atlantic Records winning the race for their signatures. The band’s major label debut, Leave A Whisper (2003), was buoyed by the radio success of the singles ‘Fly From The Inside’ and ‘45’, while an enhanced version of the album released the following year featured two more mainstream rock hits, ‘Simple Man’ and a remix of ‘Burning Bright’. The Shinedown live experience was enshrined in immortality on the DVD release Live From The Inside. Their second album, Us And Them, broke into the upper regions of the US charts in October 2005.
