Kid Sister, born Melisa Young, is a sardonic hip-hop performer from Chicago. After graduating from film school, Kid Sister began rapping in 2005 at dance parties where her brother Josh "J2K" Young was DJ-ing as part of the duo Flosstradamus. Increasing buzz led to a deal with Fool's Gold, a label run by Kanye West's DJ, A-Trak, which released her first two singles, "Control" and "Pro Nails." The latter, which featured a guest spot by West, got Kid Sister signed to the larger Downtown Records label. Kid Sister's debut album, DREAM DATE, was released in the spring of 2009.
