Biography of

Jesse Mccartney

b. 9 April 1987, New York City, New York, USA. This pop singer made his way through the world of children’s television and boy bands to enjoy mainstream success with his 2004 solo debut, Beautiful Soul. The son of trained actors, McCartney started off in local community theatre before landing a role in the Broadway production of The King And I at the age of nine. He first appeared on television in 1998 as Adam Chandler Jnr. in All My Children and continued to perform on and off-Broadway. He sang with vocal group Sugar Beats before joining boy band Dream Street, recording, touring and enjoying minor US success with both outfits.

Following the break up of the latter he followed fellow Dream Street member Chris Trousdale into solo work, signing a recording contract with Hollywood Records. While recording his debut album he landed the role of Bradin Westerly in the glossy television series Summerland Street. Released in autumn 2004, Beautiful Soul was successfully sold to teen pop stations on the back of McCartney’s history as a child star. The album, a solid collection of pop rock material, began to make an impression on the mainstream charts at the start of the following year, with the title track breaking into the US Top 20 in January. The follow-up album Right Where You Want Me attempted to update the singer’s squeaky clean image, with mixed results.
