Hailing from Morristown, Pennsylvania, Asher Roth first began rapping in high-school. While studying Elementary Education at West Chester University, Roth caught the attention of ATL-based promoter Scooter Braun through the tracks posted on his MySpace page. After a meeting, Braun became his manager, shopping Roth around to various major labels and eventually signing a joint deal with Steve Rifkind’s SRC Records. In June 2008, Roth released the downloadable GREENHOUSE EFFECT MIXTAPE through the Daily Kush website. His first single, “I Love College,” is an infectious pop anthem that recalls Eminem’s rhyme style and the accessibility of the Beastie Boys’ “Fight for Your Right to Party.
